A’s Snap Road Losing Skid, Beat Appleton 10-8

Posted: June 23, 2021

The A’s got the road monkey off their backs Tuesday night with a 10-8 victory over the Appleton Legends in Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League action.

The win moves the A’s back into first place in the NEWBL at 4-2. They sit at 11-13 overall.

They didn’t make it easy on themselves Tuesday, however.

Trailing 5-0 after the second inning, the A’s needed a four-run third inning to get back into the game. Following a single by JT Reed with two outs, a walk to Joey Pettit, a single by Ross Krist, and a walk to Harry Steldt, Jacob Neese doubled on a line drive to left scoring three. The A’s would exit the inning back within one.

Following a bases loaded single by Krist in the fourth to tie the game, Jacoby Endreas reached base on an error in the fifth, and TD Walker doubled him in as the A’s took the lead for good.

Mac Doherty picked up the win in relief of Sam Hernandez. Doherty went 3.2 innings while Hernandez went 3.0 and Brad Rindfleisch closed out the final seven outs.

The A’s are back at Wildwood Park tonight for Teacher Appreciation Night and $1 Hot Dog/Soda Night. Any teachers or school staff who show their school ID at the ticket booth will get a free general admission ticket into the game (while supplies last). Gates open at 6:30 PM.
