The Sheboygan Athletic Club is offering internships to college students looking to gain valuable experience. The Sheboygan Athletic Club operates the Sheboygan A’s, a semi-pro baseball program that plays a roughly 60 game schedule each summer.
Interns will work under the direction and supervision of the Sheboygan Athletic Club General Manager, Board of Directors, and committee chairs of their specific areas. They will be expected to attend meetings pertaining to their work, reporting to their supervisor on a regular basis. For the most part, the worksite will be at Wildwood Baseball Park.
All internships are non-paid.

An entry-level position providing hands-on experience in sports management. Must be a current student (undergraduate or graduate), eligible to receive college credit for internship. Requires ability to work flexible schedule including nights and weekends. Must be comfortable interacting with all levels within the organization as well as outside contacts. Strong time management and attention to detail are required. This is a non-paid, for-credit position.
Responsibilities
- Sports management interns will assist in all areas of the club operation, including gaining experience in all other listed internship areas
- Work directly with the club's General Manager for day-to-day operation of the club
- Oversee day-to-day operation of Wildwood Baseball Park, including park cleanup and preparation
- Assist with collection and distribution of team uniforms before and after every game
- Help fulfill daily food preparation needs
- Assist in ordering and receiving inventory (food, beer, etc…)
- Assist merchandise intern as needed
- Act as scoreboard operator during A’s games
- Game script writing
- Send out and follow up on invoices for sponsors
- Assist others within the organization when needed

Responsibilities
- Coordinating and executing pre-game promotional giveaways and on-field promotions
- Creation of new on-field promotions
- Distribute handouts pre-game and post-game to fans as they enter/leave the stadium
- Coordination of player and mascot appearances in the community
- Develop positive relationships with fans, sponsors and community members to help promote the Sheboygan A’s
- Work with graphic designers to create and then deliver marketing material in the Sheboygan community
- Coordinate special events including obtaining sponsorship and promotion of the event in the community. Events include but are not limited to: Snipe Scramble Golf Outing, Sheboygan A’s 5K Home Run/Walk, United Way Day of Caring Campaign Kickoff, etc.
- Assist in managing team and league website’s and social media
- Contacting existing and potential new sponsors regarding partnership opportunities
- Creating surveys to gauge the fan experience
- Research new marketing techniques and promotional ideas
- Assist in ordering, receiving, and tracking of merchandise inventory
- General set-up and tear-down of stadium souvenir stand on game days
- Process online, phone, and walk-in ticket and merchandise orders
- Creating and maintaining database of fan and sponsor contact information
- Cold-calling or emailing local businesses and organizations regarding group ticket and outing opportunities
- Delivering tickets to sponsors, corporate clients and season ticket holders (some driving required)
- Work in the ticket booth, souvenir stand or information table on game days
- Attending various community events as a representative of the organization
- 50/50 Raffle sales on game days
- Dress up as mascot when needed

Responsibilities
- Update and maintain all A’s and affiliated websites as well as league websites with news, scores, schedules, rosters, content updates, etc. using a Content Management System
- Create posts including videos, photos and albums for the A’s social media pages as well as the Wisconsin State League and Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League
- Provide live in-game updates on Twitter during games
- Interact with fans on social media while representing the A’s in a first-class manner
- Learn and utilize best practices when using Social Media
- Create game recap stories to be placed on team and league website’s as well as sent to local media outlets
- Develop press releases for upcoming promotions, events, and team features
- Send out weekly e-newsletters with recaps of the previous week and previewing what’s coming up the following week
- Update outside sites, such as the club’s profile with the Sheboygan County Chamber to include updated team information, schedule, etc.
- Create stories and game previews for game day program inserts
- Assist with shooting video and photography as needed during all Sheboygan A’s home games or hosted events:
- Action shots of each player, game day sponsors, giveaways, first pitch and on-filed games/promotions
- Headshots of all players, interns, and club members as well as a team photo at the beginning and end of the season
- Photos of mascot interacting with fans around the stadium and in the community
- Photos of groups hosting outings at the park
- Video of players, fans and games on the field to be used for promotional purposes
- Assist others within the organization when needed

Responsibilities
- Create graphics to be placed on team and league social media pages
- Create and upload graphics and animated files to stadium’s videoboard
- Learn stadium videoboard software and serve as videoboard controller
- Create promotional materials to be passed out around the community (pocket schedules, season schedule posters, specialty promotion posters, ticket brochures, etc.)
- Layout and assemble the A’s game day program (approximately 112-120 pages)
- Update the team’s ticket design for the new season
- Create advertisements to promote the team in various publications around the community

Responsibilities
- Keep track of food & beverage inventory and assist with re-ordering products
- Assist with fulfilling daily food preparation needs
- Maintain Health Department Sanitation and Food Safety Standards
- Ensure all concessions works are obeying quality standard practices
- Prepare tailgate and skybox areas for group outings
- Schedule and follow-up with foodservice volunteers to make sure all game-day duties are covered
- Coordinate tailgate parties (confirm numbers, prepare food, etc.)
- Contact new groups to schedule group outings in the skybox
- Prepare and execute skybox food & beverage menu for groups
- Research new food ideas and create plans for implementation
- Concession stand or beverage stand operations
- Post-game cleanup of concession and skybox areas
- Maintain general appearance and cleanliness of all food service areas

An entry-level position providing hands-on experience in the sports broadcasting industry. Must be a current student (undergraduate or graduate), eligible to receive college credit for internship. Requires ability to work flexible schedule including nights and weekends. Must be comfortable interacting with all levels within the organization as well as outside contacts. Strong time management and attention to detail are required. This is a non-paid, for-credit position.
Responsibilities
- Serve as play-by-play announcer on A’s webcast and A’s hosted events
- Work with webcast intern(s) to conduct pre-recorded player interviews to be aired during breaks in the broadcast
- Work with webcast intern(s) to create new, original video content such as “get to know” features, commercials, etc.
- Serve as field announcer as needed (read announcements over PA system, introduce starting lineups and hitters, announce lineup changes, etc.)
- See that starting lineups and umpire’s names are brought to press box at least 15 minutes prior to the game
- Learn webcast software
- Make sure press box area is cleaned up after each game
- Create talking points throughout the game to fill dead air space
- Work with existing and new sponsors to create advertisements (audio or video) during broadcasts
- Assist others within the organization when needed

Responsibilities
- Setup and operation of video equipment for all broadcasted games
- Updating roster and graphics for webcast
- Record short player interviews to be aired during breaks in broadcast
- Serve as webcast director, controlling all aspects of webcast (selecting camera to display, updating graphics on the broadcast, playing commercials between innings, etc.)
- Record and upload all A's home games to team's YouTube channel
- Troubleshooting technical issues
- Produce video content that can be used online to promote the fan experience at A’s games.
- Creation of compressed, low-resolution motion graphics for use on A’s video board
- Recording parts of games from alternate stadium angels to use in future videos
- Assist others within the organization when needed

An entry-level position providing hands-on experience in baseball field operations. Must be a current student (undergraduate or graduate), eligible to receive college credit for internship. Requires ability to work flexible schedule including nights and weekends. Must be comfortable interacting with all levels within the organization as well as outside contacts. Strong time management and attention to detail are required. This is a non-paid, for-credit position.
Responsibilities
- Prepare baseball field for events (lining the field, dragging, mowing grass, etc.)
- Re-clay pitcher’s mound and batter’s boxes after each game
- Operate equipment (mowers, edger’s, tractor, etc.)
- Clean and organize dugouts
- Maintain and repair bullpen mounds as needed
- See that the field is watered as needed utilizing the stadium's sprinkler system
- Work with the city to ensure we are well stocked in supplies for field preparations (chalk, clay, diamond dry, etc.)
- Tarp the field as needed, based on weather
- Assist in creation of and confirmation of worker schedule for field preparation
- Assist with ballpark maintenance and repair as needed
- Assist others within the organization when needed
