Walk-Off Win Sends A’s Into Championship of WSL Tournament

OSHKOSH, Wis. – The Sheboygan A’s opened the Wisconsin State League Tournament in dramatic fashion Saturday, walking off the West Allis Nationals 4-3 at E.J. Schneider Field to advance into the championship game Sunday. The game also counted as Sheboygan’s final Wisconsin State League regular season contest.
With the score tied 3-3 in the bottom of the ninth, Alex Ames lined a one-out single to left and advanced to second on a wild pitch. After George Hoss was retired on strikes, Chase Hanselman delivered the game-winning hit, lining a single to left field to score Ames and send the A’s to victory.
The win advances Sheboygan to Sunday’s winner’s final matchup against the Green Bay Blue Ribbons at 2:30 PM at E.J. Schneider Field in Oshkosh.
The A’s broke a scoreless tie in the fifth inning. Cal Casper drew a two-out walk before Ames singled to right. Hoss followed with an RBI single to score Casper for a 1-0 lead.
West Allis answered in the sixth, stringing together four consecutive hits. Jonah Meidl’s two-run single to center plated Kaleb Zabielski and Nick Argersinger, giving the Nationals a 2-1 advantage.
Sheboygan reclaimed the lead in the bottom of the eighth. Hanselman opened the inning with a single and advanced to third on Connor Lasch’s fielder’s choice and Hudson Wagner’s sacrifice bunt. A wild pitch allowed Hanselman to score the tying run before Jimmy Juergensen followed with an RBI single to score Lasch, putting the A’s ahead 3-2.
The Nationals weren’t finished, however. Zabielski led off the ninth by driving a solo home run to left field, knotting the score at 3-3 and setting the stage for Hanselman’s walk-off heroics an inning later.
Hanselman finished 3-for-5 with a double and two RBIs, including the game-winning hit. Ames collected two hits and scored twice, while Hoss and Juergensen each drove in a run.
Brad Rindfleisch turned in a complete-game performance on the mound, throwing all nine innings to earn the victory. The right-hander scattered 11 hits, allowed three runs, struck out nine, and walked one while throwing 133 pitches.
West Allis outhit Sheboygan 11-8. Zabielski went 3-for-4 with a home run, while Meidl drove in two runs for the Nationals.
A’s Will Close Season in NEWBL Championship Series
The A’s are inviting the community to pack Wildwood Park while supporting a neighboring community in need during Game 2 of the Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League Championship Series on Tuesday, August 4.
General admission to Tuesday’s game against the Menasha Macs will be free for all fans on a first-come, first-served basis. In place of purchasing a ticket, fans are encouraged to bring donations to support the Menasha community following this week’s devastating tornado.
Visit Fox Cities is requesting the following items:
- Non-perishable food items
- Bottled water
- Toiletries
- Small & large tarps and large zip ties
- Heavy duty gloves for volunteers are urgently needed
- Lanterns/flashlights
- Mop handles for Rubbermaid mops (we have many mop heads but need handles), plus additional mops
- Lighter fluid & long-reach/stick lighters
- Charcoal & firewood
- Bug spray
- Small fans
- Kleenex
- Q-Tips
- CPAP wipes
- Dish soap
- Canned meats (tuna, chicken, etc.)
- Body wipes
- Laundry detergent (small bottles preferred)
- Paper plates
- Napkins
- Paper towels
- Toilet paper
- Sandwich bags
- Diapers (Especially larger sizes – 5, 6, 7)
- Nutritional/protein drinks

Cash donations will also be accepted at the front gate. All donations collected will be delivered to Menasha tornado relief efforts.
The A’s and Menasha are meeting for the second straight season in the Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League Championship Series. Game one will take place Monday night in Menasha. Game three, if necessary, will be Wednesday in Menasha. Tuesday marks the final home game for the A’s in 2026. The A’s are coming of their first Wisconsin State League Championship in 26 years, and are looking to repeat as Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League Champions for the second straight season.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:30 PM at Wildwood Park in Sheboygan.
The Sheboygan A's are members of the Wisconsin State League and Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League. The A's have helped develop more than 43 players that have reached professional baseball, including 2002 World Series Champion Jarrod Washburn (Anaheim Angels).
