Menasha Uses Early Surge to Hand A’s 4-2 NEWBL Loss

Posted: July 6, 2026

The Sheboygan A’s couldn’t overcome an early deficit Monday evening, falling 4-2 to the Menasha Macs in Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League action. The loss dropped the A’s to 4-4 in league play, while Menasha improved to 6-2 and reclaimed first place in the NEWBL.

Menasha broke through in the second inning after putting together two-out offense. Ben Johnston singled home the game’s first run before Ayden Kanaman followed with an RBI single that also advanced to second on an error, giving the Macs a 2-0 lead. Evan Olson added a solo home run in the third to extend the advantage to 3-0.

Sheboygan answered in the fourth. Connor Lasch drew a walk and moved into scoring position with Hudson Wagner’s single before Jimmy Juergensen grounded out to second, allowing Lasch to cross the plate and trim the deficit to 3-1.

The A’s threatened again in the sixth when Wagner was hit by a pitch, Juergensen walked, and Nick Tenny singled to load the bases with one out. Menasha reliever Jackson Anderson escaped the jam by inducing a pop out and a strikeout to preserve the two-run lead.

The Macs added an insurance run in the seventh. Kanaman singled, stole second, advanced to third on an error, and scored on Olson’s RBI double to make it 4-1.

Sheboygan mounted one final push in the ninth. Emmett Selin was hit by a pitch, George Hoss reached on a fielder’s choice and an error moved him into scoring position, and Alex Ames reached on another Menasha error to bring home Hoss. Chase Hanselman followed with a walk to bring the tying run to the plate, but Harry Steldt flew out to center field to end the game.

Brad Rindfleisch turned in another solid start despite taking the loss, allowing three runs over six innings while striking out six. Bryce Lovisa and Jude Ackeret each worked an inning in relief.

Sheboygan was limited to three hits on the night. Ames, Wagner and Tenny each recorded one hit, while Juergensen drove in the A’s first run.

The A’s return to action Wednesday, July 8, when they travel to face the Green Bay Blue Ribbons in Wisconsin State League play. Sheboygan returns home Thursday, July 9, to host the West Allis Nationals before welcoming Menasha for a rematch on Friday, July 10, and the Greenville Stars on Saturday, July 11, in Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League action.
