A’s Win Weekend Series Against Kenosha, Now Tied for First in WSL

Posted: June 22, 2026

The Sheboygan A’s finished a busy weekend with a pair of victories, a loss, and a rain-suspended contest against the Kenosha Kings, leaving the clubs tied atop the Wisconsin State League standings at 8-3.

Sheboygan swept Saturday’s doubleheader at Wildwood Park before dropping Sunday’s opener in Kenosha. The second game Sunday was suspended after two innings due to rain with the A’s leading 7-4. A makeup date to resume the game will be announced at a later time.

The weekend concluded with the A’s at 13-8 overall, 8-3 in Wisconsin State League play, and tied with Kenosha for first place in the WSL.

Saturday’s opener saw Eric Schmitz turn in another strong performance, tossing a complete-game six-hitter as the A’s defeated Kenosha 5-2. Schmitz struck out six and allowed just one earned run over seven innings.

After the teams traded early runs, Sheboygan broke the game open with a four-run sixth inning. Nick Tenny started the rally with a single before Cal Casper delivered an RBI double. Brad Rindfleisch added a sacrifice fly, Hudson Wagner followed with an RBI double, and another run crossed on a wild pitch as the A’s pulled away.

Saturday’s nightcap belonged to Rindfleisch.

The veteran right-hander struck out eight over five innings as the A’s completed the sweep with a 3-1 victory. Rindfleisch reached a major milestone during the game, recording the 700th strikeout of his Sheboygan A’s career on his fifth punchout of the afternoon.

Harry Steldt provided the offense with a solo home run in the first inning, and the A’s added two more runs in the third. George Hoss scored on a Kenosha error before Jimmy Juergensen delivered an RBI single. Casey Stone handled the final two innings to secure the win.

The Kings bounced back in Sunday’s opener, handing the A’s a 7-2 defeat.

Kenosha scored twice in the first inning and added three more in the third, highlighted by Tyler Martin’s inside-the-park home run. Sheboygan answered with runs in the third and fourth innings on RBI hits from Steldt and Rindfleisch to cut the deficit to 3-2, but the Kings gradually pulled away with four unanswered runs.

Gavin Gawronski struck out six over five innings in the loss, while Alex Ames, Steldt, Juergensen, Wagner and Rindfleisch each collected hits for the A’s.

The weekend finale was shaping up to be another high-scoring contest before severe weather halted play. Sheboygan carried a 7-4 lead into the third inning before heavy rain forced officials to suspend the game. Under league rules, the contest will be resumed from the point of suspension at a date to be determined.

The A’s return home Tuesday to host the Kewaskum A’s in NEWBL action at Wildwood Park. Fans can enjoy Plymouth Dirt Track Night, featuring race cars and drivers from the Plymouth Dirt Track racing circuit on display before the game, along with Youth Baseball/Softball Night, presented by Meinhardt Orthodontics.
