Sheboygan A's vs. West Allis Nationals

A’s Fall in Extras Against West Allis

Posted: June 12, 2025

Despite a gutsy comeback and a dominant outing from Brad Rindfleisch on the mound, the Sheboygan A’s came up just short Wednesday night, falling 5–4 to the West Allis Nationals in extra innings on a walk-off error at Beaumont Field in Burlington.

Rindfleisch was brilliant for most of the night, striking out 14 over 9 1/3 innings while scattering nine hits and walking just one. But a leadoff double in the 10th set the stage for a heartbreaking finish. With the game tied at four, the Nationals moved the winning run to third and brought it home on a mishandled ground ball, handing the A’s a tough Wisconsin State League loss.

West Allis jumped out to an early lead with a two-run home run in the bottom of the first. The A’s got one back in the fifth when Alex Ames drew a walk with the bases loaded. In the seventh, Sheboygan rallied for three runs to take a 4–2 lead. Ames reached again to start the inning, and a pair of hit batters loaded the bases. A walk to John Hadley forced in a run, and Blane Bradford was hit by a pitch to bring in another. Harry Steldt added a sacrifice fly to center, putting the A’s in front. The RBI by Steldt was the 500th in his A’s career.

The Nationals pulled one back in the seventh and tied the game in the ninth with a two-out RBI single. Rindfleisch continued to battle into the 10th, throwing 169 pitches in the complete game effort.

Offensively, Sheboygan pounded out nine hits and drew eight walks but stranded 15 runners. Riley Palmquist and Bradyn Horn each collected two hits, while Hadley reached base four times and stole a bag. Steldt and Bradford each drove in a run, and the A’s ran the bases aggressively, swiping three bags on the night.

With the loss, the A’s fall to 7–5 overall and 1–3 in Wisconsin State League play. They return to Wildwood Park this weekend as host of the WSL Challenge, where all league teams gather in Sheboygan for a full slate of regular season action. The A’s take on Lombard at 8:45 PM Friday, followed by games against Kenosha (2 PM) and Addison (8 PM) on Saturday.
