Posted: May 18, 2025
The Sheboygan A’s kicked off their 2025 season in style, sweeping the visiting Kewaskum A’s in a Wildwood Park doubleheader on Opening Day. The A’s rallied late to take game one 9-4, then edged out a tight 2-1 victory in game two behind a milestone performance from veteran right-hander Brad Rindfleisch.
Game 1 Recap: A Sixth-Inning Explosion Powers Sheboygan Past Kewaskum
The A’s opened the season with a come-from-behind win in the early game. Trailing 4-2 in the sixth, Sheboygan erupted for six runs on just three hits to flip the script. The inning was capped by a no-doubt, three-run blast to center field by Jimmy Juergensen on a full count pitch.
Earlier in the game, Jacob Neese’s first-inning RBI double opened the scoring, and Chase Hanselman tied it in the third with a sacrifice fly. Despite surrendering the lead again on a Kewaskum homer in the fifth, Sheboygan’s offense and defense came alive down the stretch. The A’s turned three double plays and swiped five bags, with Ryne Lesnik accounting for three of them.
Hanselman and Harry Steldt both tallied two hits, while Hanselman and Juergensen each drove in three runs. On the mound, Casey Stone picked up the win in relief, while Jared Reklaitis and Sawyer Kowalkowski combined for three scoreless innings.
Game 2 Recap: Rindfleisch Dominates, Reaches 600 Career Strikeouts
Game two belonged to Rindfleisch, who etched his name further into A’s lore by recording his 600th career strikeout en route to a complete-game victory. The right-hander was electric, striking out 10 and allowing just three hits and one run across seven innings.
After falling behind 1-0 in the top of the first on a hit-by-pitch with the bases loaded, Sheboygan battled back to tie the game in the fourth on a Kewaskum error. In the sixth, Steldt delivered the go-ahead run with a sac fly, his second RBI of the day across both contests.
Hanselman led Sheboygan’s offense again with a 2-for-3 performance. Defensively, the A’s were flawless, committing no errors, with Cal Casper handling 11 chances cleanly at catcher.
Up next for the A’s is a Wednesday matchup with the Manitowoc Bandits at Wildwood Park. $1 hot dogs and $1 soda will be available at the concession stand.
