Steldt’s First Inning Blast Sets Tone for Win Over Macs

Posted: July 25, 2023

Harry Steldt’s first inning solo home run helped set the tone Monday night as the A’s ousted the Menasha Macs 4-2 in a Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League game.

Steldt, batting second in the lineup, took the first pitch he saw and left no doubt about it has he laced a shot passed the left field wall to give the A’s an early 1-0 lead. It was his second home run of the season.

Just one inning later, Ian Merry (UW-Platteville) also hit his second home run of the season, as he took a 3-2 pitched and hammered it over the left field wall as well to extend the A’s lead to 3-0.

The Macs chipped away at the lead, scoring two in the top half of the fifth off of starter Brad Rindfleisch, but that’s all the Macs would score on the night. Steldt would get his second RBI of the game just a half inning later when he singled in Gus Walker (Marian University) for the the final run of the game.

Rindfleisch would pickup the complete game win, his seventh complete game in ten starts this season. He threw 168 pitches, striking out 16 and allowing only one earned run through nine innings. He started off the game with two straight three-up, three-down innings, including five straight strikeouts. In total, he had four innings where we saw the minimum at the plate.

The A’s are back at it tonight as the regular season winds down this week. Tonight is a Non-Profit Wednesday (rescheduled from a rainout) with the Children with Cancer of Sheboygan County organization in attendance when the A’s take on the Burlington Barons in a 7:30 PM Wisconsin State League game. Joining them will be Pink Heals who will have their pink firetruck in the parking lot pre-game. Click here for tickets.
