A’s Pick Up Important WSL/NEWBL Victory Over Green Bay

Posted: June 21, 2023

The Sheboygan A’s picked up a crucial victory Tuesday night with a 2-1 win over the Green Bay Blue Ribbons in a game that counted in both the Wisconsin State League and Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League standings.

With the victory, the A’s move to 15-10 overall, 8-6 in the WSL, and 2-3 in the NEWBL.

The A’s grabbed the lead for good in the bottom of the sixth on a Riley Palmquist (Marian University) single to center field, that scored Harry Steldt from second base. Both teams would struggle to get any further offense going.

Carson Hansen (UW-Milwaukee) and Jack Counsell (University of Michigan commit) each hit doubleds in the game, and along with Steldt, led the club in total bases. Counsell added in a stolen base.

Noah Imrie pitched six strong innings, scattering three hits, striking out three and walking three to pick up the victory. Riley O’Connell (UW-Stevens Point) and Brad Rindfleisch pitched in relief to secure the win, with the save going to Rindfleisch, his second of the season.

The A’s are back home tonight against the Milwaukee Heavy Hitters in a non-league matchup at Wildwood Park. It’s mini-golf night tonight with fun mini-golf games scattered in throughout the evening.
