Sheboygan, WI – The A’s picked up some much needed victories over the weekend, beating Kenosha three our of four times to take the season series 4-1.

The wins move the A’s back over .500 in the Wisconsin State League.

On Saturday in a unique situation, the Kings hosted the A’s…at Wildwood Park in Sheboygan. Due to a field availability issue in Kenosha, the Kings requested to use the A’s home field for their Saturday doubleheader, where Kensoha was the home team both games.

The A’s scored six runs in the seventh inning of game one, all with two outs, to get an 8-2 victory. After Gus Walker (Marian University) and Kyle Flynn (Concordia University-Wisconsin) reached based, Brady Zackrison (Marian University) put a ball in play that was booted by the Kings defense, allowing Walker and Flynn to score and take the lead. After Harry Steldt was hit by a pitch, Carson Hansen (UW-Milwaukee) singled to drive in Zackrison to score the A’s third run of the inning. Next, Jacob Neese (Parkland Community College) hit his first home run of the season to really blow the game open, scoring three, and securing the A’s victory. Michael Martinez (Marian University) got the win with two innings of relief. Dylan Davis (Marian University) got the start, striking out seven. Zackrison also had a home run in the game.

Game two Saturday went to the Kings, 10-3. The Kings scored runs in every inning, minus the second, racking up 13 hits against a pitching-by-committee A’s pitching staff in the game. Neese hit his second home run of the day along with a double and Zackrison also had a double.

On Sunday, the things were back to normal as the A’s were back to being the home team.

Eric Schmitz picked up the 4-1 win in game one, going six innings, allowing one unearned run and striking out four. Brad Rindfleisch pitched the seventh for the save. Jimmy Juergensen (Concordia University-Wisconsin) hit the A’s fourth home run of the weekend, with Hansen and Walker adding doubles.

Neese and Flynn continued the long-ball weekend, with Neese hitting his third of the weekend, and Flynn hitting his first of the season in the A’s 5-3 victory in game two Sunday. Jared Reklaitis pitched his fourth-straight complete game, striking out 10 and scattering five hits to move his record to a perfect 4-0 overall this season.

Up next for the A’s is a dual-league matchup against the Green Bay Blue Ribbons on Tuesday night at home. The Blue Ribbons and A’s are tied for wins along with West Allis and Lombard in the tight Wisconsin State League. The Ribbons sit atop the Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League at 3-0, while the A’s are currently in last at 1-3. Following Tuesday, the A’s will host the Milwaukee Heavy Hitters for the second time in a week Wednesday night, then begin play in the Wisconsin Amateur Baseball Classic Thursday on the road, then hosting a tournament game Friday evening.
