Six Named to 2022 NEWBL First-Team

The Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League announced their all-league teams for the 2022 season, and the league champion Sheboygan A’s grabbed six of the 13 spots on the first-team.

Ross Kirst (UW-Platteville alum) and Harry Steldt (UW-Stevens Point alum) were named all-league infielders, taking two of the four spots. Other infielders named to the first team were Ethan Sawyer of the Kewaskum A’s and Adam Cootway of the Appleton Legends.

The A’s swept all the outfield spots, with Gus Walker (Marian University), Jonathan Kim (University of Michigan), and Jacoby Endreas (UW-Stout) sweeping the positions.

Noah Imrie (Marian University alum) was one of four pitchers named to the first team. Imrie was joined by Derek Hall of Kewaskum, Will Monroe of Menasha, and Sam Ott of Greater Green Bay.

Other first-team selections were Evan Olson of Appleton (catcher) and Josh Blount from Menasha (utility).

Krist hit .350 in NEWBL play with 12 extra-base hits while appearing in all 16 league games for the A’s.

Walker stole six bases, had three triples, and scored 19 runs while joining Krist in appearing in all 16 NEWBL games in 2022. He finished with a .383 batting average.

Steldt collected 15 hits and added another 15 walks in 14 league games with 10 runs batted in.

Kim hit .370 with 17 singles, four doubles, two triples and nine runs scored in 12 games while adding three stolen bases.

Endreas appeared in 14 NEWBL games, leading the A’s first-team hitters with a .405 batting average. He drove in 13 runs over the summer.

On the mound, Imrie pitched 22 innings, finishing 2-0 with 20 strikeouts. He had the second-best ERA among NEWBL qualified pitchers, finishing with a 2.05 ERA and a 1.09 WHIP.

The Sheboygan A's are members of the Wisconsin State League and Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League. The A's have helped develop more than 43 players that have reached professional baseball, including 2002 World Series Champion Jarrod Washburn (Anaheim Angels).
