Sheboygan A's vs. Appleton Legends

A’s Tie Single-Season Win Streak Record with 16th Straight Victory

Posted: July 7, 2022

The 2022 Sheboygan A’s are looking to make history Thursday night.

Entering Wednesday’s road doubleheader with Appleton, the A’s came from behind in the final inning to take the game 3-2, then posted a shutout in game two to push the winning streak to 16 games, tying the 1998 team for longest in A’s history.

A victory over Manitowoc tonight at Wildwood Park would break the record set in 1998.

Trailing 2-1 in the top of the seventh inning with one out, Ross Krist (UW-Platteville Alum) doubled, scoring Gus Walker (Marian University) from first base to tie the game. Following a ground out to make it two outs, Jacob Neese (Parkland Community College) laced a single to right field, scoring Krist to take the lead.

Following a leadoff walk, Blake Kunz (South Dakota State) struck out the next two Legends’ batters. With their runner stranded on first base, the Legends attempted to steal second, but A’s catcher Caleb Lorbecki (UW-Milwaukee) threw the runner out at second base to end the game, pushing “the streak” to 15″.

Game two saw more late-game heroics, as a 0-0 game entering the sixth saw the A’s plate one run in the top half, then score two more in the seventh. Being the true workhorse he is, A’s starting pitcher Brad Rindfleisch (UW-Stout) alum threw a complete-game, 141-pitch shutout, striking out 16, to push the streak to 16. He allowed only two hits as the Legends left nine on base.

Tonight the A’s host the Manitowoc Bandits in a non-league game to try to break the single-season winning streak record. Tonight is also the annual Bud Light Night game, presented by Larry’s Distributing. Larry’s Distributing has raffle prizes available tonight, including: Shiner Cooler filled with beer, Spotted Cow Canvas and a case of Spotted Cow, Busch Light Farm Mirror, Mich Ultra Golf Bag, Coors Light Chill’n in Wisconsin Mirror, Cut Water Spirits Orca Cooler, and Win Your Height in Bud Light.
