Road Woes Continue: A’s Remain Winless on the Road, Fall to Burlington 10-6
Posted: June 10, 2021
The road has not been kind to the A’s so far in 2021.
In four attempts, the teams has come home 0-4.
A six-run third inning was the big difference maker Wednesday night as the A’s fell back below .500 overall with a 10-6 defeat at the hands of the Burlington Barons.
The loss drops the A’s WSL record to 2-4, a full four games behind the WSL-leading West Allis Nationals.
Despite out-hitting the Barons 14-11, the A’s couldn’t recover from a six-run third inning. The Barons would then follow that up with a three-run fourth, and would later tack on one more for good measure.
Davis Wilson, who has been solid all season, took the loss. He lasted only four innings, giving up eight hits and nine runs, seven being earned. Joey Pettit and Mac Doherty both pitched in relief.
Offensively, Harry Steldt continued his torrid start to the season, adding three base hits including a double and a run scored. Ross Krist hit his second home run of the season in the top of the sixth.
The A’s will now have two days off to prepare for the Wisconsin State League Challenge coming to Wildwood Park Saturday and Sunday. The A’s will play at 11 AM and 5 PM Saturday, and then play at 3 PM Sunday.
