The Menasha Macs broke open a one-run game with a three-run sixth inning and went on to defeat the Sheboygan A’s, 5-1, Thursday night in Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League action.

With the loss, Sheboygan dropped to 3-3 in the NEWBL and 15-9 overall, while Menasha remained unbeaten in league play at 5-0.

The A’s struck first in the sixth inning after George Hoss reached on an error and Chase Hanselman followed with a single. Jimmy Juergensen lifted a sacrifice fly to center field, allowing Hoss to score for a 1-0 Sheboygan lead.

Menasha answered immediately in the bottom half of the inning. After Quade Thompson tripled to lead off the inning, the Macs capitalized on a pair of walks, an error and a two-run single by Ben Johnston to take a 3-1 lead.

The Macs added another run in the seventh when Ryan Csida connected for a solo home run to left field, then tacked on an insurance run in the eighth to seal the victory.

Hanselman paced the A’s offense, finishing 3-for-5 while swiping three bases. Connor Lasch added a double, while Nick Tenny, Emmett Selin and Lucas Lemons each collected a hit.

Cade Voelker started on the mound for Sheboygan, allowing just two hits over five scoreless innings while striking out five. Eric Zuberbier was charged with the loss in relief.
