Steldt Homers Twice As A’s Blast Appleton In Weather-Delayed Win

Posted: July 3, 2025

Harry Steldt homered twice and drove in five runs as the Sheboygan A’s rolled to a 16–7 win over the Appleton Legends in a rain-delayed, seven-inning Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League game Wednesday night at Wildwood Park.

A strong thunderstorm hit just before first pitch, forcing a delay of over an hour before the tarps came off. With the long delay, the two teams decided to shorten the length of game to seven innings.

Appleton opened the scoring with three runs in the top of the first, but the A’s quickly answered. Steldt evened things up with a three-run shot to left in the bottom half, part of a five-RBI night for the A’s third baseman.

Sheboygan added four more in the second to take control. Bradyn Horn singled home two, John Hadley lifted a sacrifice fly, and Jacob Neese knocked an RBI single to push the lead to 7–4.

Steldt struck again in the fourth, belting a solo homer to left. In the fifth, Sheboygan broke the game open with a six-run inning fueled by a combination of hits and Appleton miscues. Horn singled in two more, Steldt added an RBI double, Hadley doubled home a run, and Neese tacked on another RBI hit.

The A’s finished with 14 hits and drew six walks. Horn and Neese each had two hits and four RBIs combined, while Steldt tallied 10 total bases. Nick Tenny also had two hits and Cal Casper reached base twice and scored.

Shaun Gavin earned the win in relief, tossing three innings and allowing two runs. Sawyer Kowalkowski started and struck out three over three innings. Michelangelo Granela worked a perfect seventh to close it out.

With the win, Sheboygan improves to 18–11 overall and 7–2 in the NEWBL, good for first place.

The A’s are off for the Fourth of July holiday and return to the field Tuesday at West Allis. They travel to Green Bay on Wednesday before returning home Thursday night.

The 2025 season is presented by Meijer.
