A’s and Orioles Split Sunday Twin Bill

Posted: June 30, 2025

After three straight losses to Lombard, the Sheboygan A’s broke through Sunday evening with a gritty 6–5 win to salvage a doubleheader split at Wildwood Park.

Game one was a pitchers’ duel that slipped away late despite a brilliant effort from Jared Reklaitis, who struck out 14 over eight innings and allowed just one earned run. The A’s took a 2–1 lead in the third on a hit-by-pitch and a sacrifice fly. Lombard tied things up in the fourth, and the two teams remained deadlocked into extra innings.

Lombard scored the go-ahead run in the top of the eighth, but the A’s tied the game again in the eighth when Jacob Neese delivered an RBI single to center that scored Calvin Keesler who had reached base earlier in the inning on a hit by pitch.

But a ninth-inning sacrifice fly gave Lombard the edge, and the A’s couldn’t mount a response in the bottom half, falling 4–3. Neese, Gus Walker, Cal Casper, and Connor Lasch accounted for the team’s four hits.

Game two flipped the script. The A’s trailed 4–1 early but rallied with a five-run fourth inning to seize the lead for good. The inning featured two hits and five walks, including a clutch two-RBI single from Harry Steldt that gave Sheboygan a 6–4 advantage.

Jason Bunton went the distance, scattering eight hits across seven innings while holding the Orioles to just one run over the final five frames. Steldt led the offense with a hit, two walks, and two RBIs. Carter Kallies, Riley Palmquist, and Lasch each added hits, and the A’s defense stayed clean behind Bunton.

The A’s now stand at 16–11 overall and 6–8 in Wisconsin State League play. They return to action Tuesday night in the State League with a home game against West Allis. Tuesday is Hockey Night presented by Bank First – free general admission for youth hockey players, plus get a hot dog, soda, and chips for just $5. Green Bay Gamblers mascot Ace will be on hand.
