Juergensen’s Grand Slam Lifts A’s Over West Allis
Posted: June 26, 2025
Jimmy Juergensen launched a go-ahead grand slam in the bottom of the seventh inning to cap a five-run frame and lift the Sheboygan A’s to a 9–6 comeback victory over the West Allis Nationals in Wisconsin State League action Wednesday night at Wildwood Park.
Trailing 6-4 enterting the seventh, the rally started with a single from Alex Ames. Bradyn Horn followed with a fielder’s choice that erased Ames at second, but Harry Steldt drew a walk to move Horn into scoring position. Jacob Neese then reached on an error by the third baseman, loading the bases with one out. After John Hadley popped out to center for the second out, Riley Palmquist delivered an RBI single to bring home Horn and cut the deficit to 6–5. Juergensen then stepped in and crushed the first pitch he saw over the right field wall for a grand slam, giving Sheboygan a 9–6 lead.
West Allis had built a 5–4 lead by the fourth inning, using a pair of sacrifice flies, two RBI singles, and some aggressive baserunning. The A’s took an early lead in the second on a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch and a two-RBI single from Steldt, then added a solo home run from Hadley in the third.
Steldt led the offense with a 2-for-3 night, while Ames reached base three times and Hadley, Palmquist, and Carter Kallies each added a hit. Sheboygan walked six times in the game and hit two home runs, with Juergensen’s being his second of the year.
All nine offensive starters scored runs for the A’s in the game, and all safely reached base as well.
Sawyer Kowalkowski started and went four innings, allowing three earned runs on six hits. Shaun Gavin earned the win with three innings of two-hit relief, striking out four. Mickelangelo Granela and Jack Poellot each tossed a clean inning to close it out.
With the win, Sheboygan improves to 15–8 overall, 5–5 in the Wisconsin State League, and 6–2 in the Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League.
The A’s hit the road to Appleton Thursday for a Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League matchup with the Appleton Legends. After taking Friday off, the A’s will then host a four-game weekend set against the Lombard Orioles. Tickets are available now at SheboyganBaseball.Simpletix.com.
