A’s Drop Two of Three in Illinois; Lasch Powers Sunday Victory
Posted: June 8, 2025
The Sheboygan A’s hit the road for a three-game Wisconsin State League series in Addison, Illinois, over the weekend, finishing 1–2 before Sunday’s second game was postponed due to weather. The A’s dropped both halves of Saturday’s doubleheader before bouncing back with a convincing win on Sunday morning, thanks to a breakout performance by Connor Lasch.
In Saturday’s opener, the A’s struck first when Bradyn Horn launched a solo home run to left field in the second inning, but that would be the team’s only run in a 5–1 loss. Addison answered with a run of its own in the bottom of the frame, then took the lead on a solo homer in the third. Jared Reklaitis went five innings, striking out eight while allowing four runs (three earned), but was tagged with the loss. Horn reached base all four times he came to the plate, finishing 2-for-2 with two walks, as Sheboygan drew eight walks overall but left too many runners stranded.
Game two saw the A’s fall behind early and struggle to close the gap. Addison plated four runs in the first inning and added three more in the fifth en route to a 9–4 final. Jason Bunton started and worked five innings, allowing seven runs on 10 hits while striking out five. Offensively, Harry Steldt led the charge, going 2-for-2 with a pair of RBIs. Alex Ames also recorded two hits, but the A’s couldn’t keep up despite tallying 10 hits on the afternoon.
Sunday brought a much-needed spark. Connor Lasch delivered a statement performance, crushing two home runs and driving in five runs to lead Sheboygan to an 8–2 win. His solo shot in the second opened the scoring, and his three-run blast in the fourth helped blow the game open. The A’s scored five times in that fourth inning, also getting RBI hits from Steldt and Nick Tenny, along with a sacrifice fly from Jimmy Juergensen. Eric Schmitz earned the win with a solid six-inning outing, allowing two runs on six hits while striking out five. Shaun Gavin followed with a clean seventh, striking out all three batters he faced.
Lasch, and Ryne Lesnik provided a spark from the bottom of the order, combining for four hits and five RBIs. Steldt collected two more hits in the win, while the defense played error-free baseball for the second time this series.
Game four of the weekend set was postponed due to weather.
