The Sheboygan A’s secured a decisive 9-4 victory against the Milwaukee Heavy Hitters in Wisconsin State League action Tuesday.
The A’s took an early lead in the first inning with an RBI double from Harry Steldt. The Heavy Hitters managed to tie the game in the fourth with a solo home run, but the A’s quickly responded in the fifth. Jimmy Juergensen drew a bases-loaded walk to break the tie, followed by an RBI single from Alex Perez to extend the lead to 4-1.
The Heavy Hitters fought back to tie the game in the sixth, but the A’s responded with a five-run inning sixth of their own, capitalizing on an error that drove in two runs, a Chase Hanselman RBI double, and Perez’s RBI of the game.
Eric Schmitz picked up career win number 49, going six innings, allowing four runs on six hits while striking out seven. Riley O’Connell earned the save, his first of the season.
Perez led the offense with two RBIs and went 2-for-5. Gus Walker also contributed with two hits.
The A’s hit the road to Menasha Wednesday and are back home Thursday against West Allis for Plymouth Dirt Track Night, and a Hand Fan Giveaway presented by Four Seasons Comfort.
