A’s Sweep Sunday Doubleheader Against Clout
Posted: June 3, 2024
Brady Zackrison drove in four runs on three hits to lead the Sheboygan A’s to a decisive 8-0 victory over the Chicago Clout in the first game of their doubleheader on Sunday at Wildwood Park. Zackrison’s offensive explosion included a double in the first inning that scored two runs and a triple in the fourth that added another two.
A double by Brad Rindfleisch in the third inning extended the A’s lead to 3-0 and then the A’s capitalized on a strong fourth inning, scoring four runs thanks to Zackrison’s triple and an error by the Clout.
Noah Imrie earned the win, allowing just one hit and zero runs over four innings while striking out seven and walking two in his 2024 season debut. The A’s bullpen, featuring Eric Zuberbier, Riley O’Connell, and Joey Pettit, shut down the Clout for the remainder of the game, each pitching one inning, allowing just one hit and striking out four, all three of which were also making their 2024 debut on the mound.
Offensively, the A’s tallied 12 hits. Ian Merry and Gus Walker each collected multiple hits, and the team played flawless defense, committing no errors and turning one double play.
In game two on Sunday, the A’s continued their dominance, securing a 6-1 win over the Chicago Clout.
The A’s were the first to score, with Ben Buehring singling in the first inning to drive in a run. The Clout managed to tie the game at one in the fourth inning following a Sheboygan error which would account for their only run of the afternoon, but the A’s quickly regained the lead in the bottom of the inning, capitalizing on another error and a single by Nick Herzog to make it 3-1. Three more runs would score in the sixth to secure the win and weekend sweep.
Jared Reklaitis earned his second win of the season, giving up just four hits and one unearned run over six innings while striking out nine and walking one. Nate Stephany threw one inning of scoreless relief, striking out one and walking none.
The A’s take Monday off before embarking on a busy week ahead, traveling to Green Bay Tuesday for a WSL and NEWBL game, then to Appleton Wednesday for a NEWBL title, then returning home for games Thursday against Menasha, and Saturday and Sunday against Kenosha, Addison, and Lombard in the Wisconsin State League Challenge.
