A’s on Losing End of Back and Forth Game

Posted: June 28, 2023

Momentum swings carried both teams Tuesday night, but it was the Kewaskum A’s who came out ahead with a 9-6 victory over Sheboygan.

After taking an early 3-0 lead in the first inning, on doubles by Brady Zackrison (Marian University), Jacob Neese (Parkland Community College), Kewaskum answered with three of their own in the top of the third to tie things up.

Kewaskum would then take a 5-3 lead when they added two more in the fourth. But the A’s would answer in their half of the fifth when Gus Walker (Marain University) would reach base on a fielder’s choice, then proceed to steal second and third with Jack Counsell (University of Michigan commit) up to bat. Counsell would ground out but Walker would cross the plate to make it a 5-4 game. Carson Hansen (UW-Milwaukee) would then hit one of his two doubles on the night and Harry Steldt would drive him in with a single to tie the game.

After no scoring in the sixth, Kewaskum would re-take a one run lead, with the A’s responding right back with one the sixth – again the mixture of a Hansen extra-base hit and Steldt putting the ball in play to score and tie the game 6-6.

Kewaskum would put the final nail in the coffin in the eighth with a bases loaded double to score all three runners.

The A’s are back on the road in Green Bay tonight for a WSL and NEWBL game with the Blue Ribbons. They will return to Wildwood Park on Thursday and Friday before hitting the Fourth of July break.
