Reklaitis Faces Two Over the Minimum as A’s Split with Burlington

Posted: July 17, 2022

Entering the final inning of game two Saturday, Jared Reklaitis (UW-Milwaukee Alum) had faced the minimum.

Despite giving up two hits to that point, the A’s turned two double plays as Reklaitis faced only 18 batters through six innings. Reklaitis would complete the shutout as the A’s would win game two 2-0 after falling in game one 3-2.

Game one’s low-scoring affair saw all of each team’s runs scored on long balls. Burlington’s Joe Zuleger hit a three-run home run in the top half of the sixth, only to be answered by Harry Steldt’s (UW-Stevens Point Alum) two-run shot to left field in the bottom half of the inning. Those two plays accounted for all the runs in game one as the A’s fell 3-2.

In another low-scoring pitcher’s duel in game two, the A’s first four batters of the game reached base after a leadoff walk, and three straight singles, driving in two runs. Reklaitis shut the door the rest of the way, scattering four hits, and striking out nine in an 80-pitch effort.

The A’s wrap up the regular season this week. The A’s will take Sunday off before heading to Menasha Monday. The team will host Greater Green Bay on Tuesday (Poster Giveaway presented by Boneck Printing, Fan Appreciation Night), Appleton on Wednesday (Christmas in July presented by Cousins’s Subs, $1 Hot Dogs/Sodas), and Addison for a four-game set Saturday and Sunday.
