Sheboygan A's vs. River Falls Fighting Fish

Losing Skid Hits Four with Loss to River Falls

Outside of the A’s horses at the top of the rotation, pitching depth continues to struggle as the A’s dropped a non-league contest to River Falls Friday night, 13-12.

A’s starter Phil Schmit wasn’t able to make it out of the second inning Friday night, issuing four walks at throwing 48 pitches before Manager Tim Moyer went to the bullpen, which didn’t fare much better.

One bright spot is that the A’s offense continues to keep the club in games. Harry Steldt remains at the top of the A’s hitting charts, launching his eighth home run of the season in fifth inning. Jimmy Juergensen made things interesting in the bottom of the ninth he belted his own three-run home run to cut the deficit to 13-12. Jacob Neese would follow that up with a single, putting the tying run on base before Mark Wanner just got under one a little too much, popping out to left field to end the game.

The A’s are back home today for a 2 PM doubleheader in non-league action against the Chicago Clout. Former A’s slugger Chad Gorman will be inducted into the A’s Hall of Fame between innings of the doubleheader.
