A’s Flounder; Lose at Oshkosh
Posted: June 23, 2009
Hopefully the Sheboygan A’s will wake up tonight after experiencing a nightmare at Oshkosh Tuesday night.
The Giants took advantage of five physical A’s errors and a number of mental flubs to post a 7-3 Wisconsin State League win.
The win drops the A’s below .500 in the league at 6-7 and pulls Oshkosh to even at 4-4.
Tonight the A’s entertain the Green Bay Storm in a 7:30 p.m. game at Wildwood Park. Groups from Shorewest Realty and Sheboygan Performing Arts will join the A’s faithful in trying to root the team back from a 4-game losing streak.
The A’s took a 1-0 lead in the second inning off Oshkosh ace Kyle Kannenberg when Nohl Depies doubled, went to third on a passed ball and scored on Gabe Marshall’s sacrifice fly. Then the roof fell in.
Three hits, two stolen bases and three A’s errors put a 3-spot on the scoreboard for Oshkosh in the second. It went to 4-1 in the third on two walks and two Giant hits. Physical and mental errors enabled Oshkosh to build it to 7-1 after five.
Solo home runs by Lucas Wilsing and Ryan Schmitz late in then game rounded out the final 7-3 score.
Schmitz was 3-for-4 with a double and home run to lead the A’s at the plate.
The loss drops the A’s to 15-7 for the season.
