Taylor Schwarz Elected to Sheboygan A’s Hall of Fame
Posted: June 29, 2026
Pitcher Taylor Schwarz is the 37th Sheboygan A’s player to be selected to the A’s Hall of Fame. He will be inducted between games of the Sheboygan A’s vs. Greenville Stars doubleheader on July 11, 2026, at Wildwood Baseball Park.
Due to the rule requiring a five-year minimum after a player stops playing for the A’s before becoming eligible for the Hall of Fame, Schwarz carries the rare distinction of being inducted into the Wisconsin State League Hall of Fame before going into the A’s Hall of Fame. He was selected to the WSL Hall of Fame in 2021 and inducted as part of the 2022 class. It is the ultimate compliment to his worthiness, considering the WSL is one of the premier amateur baseball leagues in the Midwest, if not the country.
Schwarz was the ultimate warrior on the mound, and when he started, you just assumed the A’s would win that day. Period. Somehow, someway, he would get the team into the late innings with a great chance to win. Current A’s Manager Tim Moyer was able to watch Schwarz as part of the Sheboygan South coaching staff during Taylor’s high school years and later as an assistant under former skipper Derek Loomans.
Moyer says, “He was the ultimate winner. He not only knew how to win, but he knew how to make everyone around him loosen up and have fun while winning. For many, that is not easy. Taylor flat out made his teammates better. He made having fun easy for everyone, even if they personally were not having the best of games. Reigning him back in, well at times, that was the hard part!”
Schwarz played 12 seasons with the A’s from 2008 through 2019. He appeared in 258 total games for the A’s, 78 games as a pitcher with 65 starts, 29 complete games, and 14 shutouts. His career ended with a 2.61 ERA, a 44-12 record, and two saves. He struck out 355 hitters in 466 innings pitched.
He ranks in the top 25 all-time for the A’s in 15 categories, including years (5th), games (15th), games started (8th), complete games (7th), innings pitched (10th), hits allowed (10th), runs allowed (18th), strikeouts (13th), walks (24th), hit batsmen (18th), earned runs allowed (13th), ERA (16th), wins (6th), losses (22nd), shutouts (1st), and winning percentage (21st). Gaudy and deserving numbers indeed.
What makes this even more impressive is that during his first six seasons, he was also a consistent two-way player as an infielder. As a switch-hitting infielder, he hit .261 with 173 hits, 81 RBI, 25 stolen bases, 31 doubles, three triples, and four home runs.
His best two seasons as a pitcher came in 2014 and 2017 — and they were dominant. In 2014, he finished 9-1 with two shutouts, a save, and six complete games. He recorded a 2.23 ERA and 62 strikeouts in 76.2 innings. In 2017, he went a perfect 7-0 with four shutouts, four complete games, and 46 strikeouts in 53 innings.
Schwarz led the WSL with a 1.17 ERA in 2014, was named to the WSL All-League 2nd Team in 2014, and earned WSL 1st Team All-League honors in 2017. He was named the A’s Most Valuable Pitcher in 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2017. Schwarz also led the A’s in strikeouts once, ERA twice, wins three times, and winning percentage once.
The 2007 Sheboygan South graduate played collegiately at Madison College, the University of North Carolina-Greensboro, and the University of Wisconsin-Parkside.
