A’s Win Over Menasha 6-4
Posted: July 31, 2020
The Sheboygan A’s came back home Thursday night to host the Menasha Macs, a team Sheboygan has struggled to outplay. A final score of 6-4 did the job in earning a win and also boost their NEWBL record.
The win was the A’s 5th straight and 14th in their last 17 games. The club plays a big Wisconsin State League game tonight at Burlington where they will take on powerful West Allis.
Without delay, both teams swung their bats and put runs up in the first inning. A walk followed by a RBI double from Ryan Hinske gave Menasha their initial run. Sheboygan responded with two RBI singles from Jimmy Juergensen and TD Walker that gave the A’s three runs and a 3-1 lead.
The third inning proved to be helpful in scoring runs as well when Menasha walked two batters, Tyler Branderburg hit a single and eventually Walker grounded into a fielder’s choice that scored two runners. Nathan Ebersole went 2-for-3 at the plate which led the A’s offensively.
Noah Imrie was the starting pitcher for the game while Jackson Pothast and Bryce Lovia came in to relieve Imrie. Pothast earned the victory and Lovisa earned the save, recording the last six outs. Many opportunities for both teams to score presented themselves throughout the game. Menasha left 12 runners stranded and Sheboygan left nine runners stranded during the game.
Following tonight’s game with West Allis, the A’s will have a break for a few days. The Sunday doubleheader againt Chicago has been cancelled due to travel restricions related to Covid-19 for the City of Chicago. The A’s return home next Thursday.
