A’s Hold Off Kewaskum, Improve to 3-2 in NEWBL

Posted: June 23, 2026

The Sheboygan A’s built an early lead and then leaned on strong relief pitching to earn a 4-2 victory over the Kewaskum A’s Tuesday night at Wildwood Park. The win improved Sheboygan to 3-2 in the Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League, 14-8 overall, and kept the A’s rolling after a successful weekend against the Kenosha Kings.

Sheboygan struck first in the second inning. Jacob Neese lined a double to left and later scored when Nick Tenny delivered a two-out RBI single, giving the A’s a 1-0 advantage.

The A’s added two more runs in the third. Alex Ames singled and eventually stole third before scoring on a sacrifice fly by Neese. Later in the inning, Chase Hanselman crossed the plate on a wild pitch to extend the lead to 3-0.

Kewaskum cut into the deficit in the fifth. Andy Neu doubled and eventually scored on an Arthur Liebau sacrifice fly before the visitors loaded the bases and drew a walk to make it a 3-2 game.

That was as close as Kewaskum would get.

Sawyer Kowalkowski entered in relief and settled things down after the fifth-inning rally. The right-hander tossed 4.1 scoreless innings, allowing just two hits while striking out four to earn the victory.

Sheboygan added an insurance run in the eighth inning. Connor Lasch reached on an error and later came around to score when Tenny reached on a fielder’s choice, giving the A’s a 4-2 cushion.

Colson Matter started and struck out five over 4.2 innings, allowing two runs on five hits. Kowalkowski closed the door from there as the A’s pitching staff combined for nine strikeouts and held Kewaskum to four hits through the final four innings.

Offensively, Ames, Hanselman, Lasch, Neese, and Riley Palmquist each collected hits as Sheboygan finished with six hits. Neese drove in two runs, while Tenny added a pair of RBIs. Ames also scored once and stole a base as the A’s manufactured runs throughout the evening.

The A’s return to Wisconsin State League action on Wednesday, June 24, when they host the Green Bay Blue Ribbons at Wildwood Park. It will be Bud Light Night, presented by Larry’s Distributing, featuring prize giveaways throughout the evening.
