A’s Strengthen Grip on NEWBL Lead With Win Over Green Bay

Posted: July 23, 2025

Sheboygan’s bid for a Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League regular season title got a big boost Wednesday night as the A’s handled Green Bay 5-1 at Wildwood Park.

The win pushed the A’s NEWBL record to 10-4 with four games to play, while Green Bay dropped to 10-6 with just two games remaining.

Green Bay struck first with a run in the second, but that was all they’d get against a locked-in Brad Rindfleisch. The A’s right-hander went the distance, scattering six hits and striking out seven without issuing a walk. Of the 102 pitches he threw, 73 were strikes.

Sheboygan answered in the third with three straight singles from Bradyn Horn, Harry Steldt, and Connor Lasch to tie the game. Jacob Neese followed with a sharp grounder to the right side to bring home the go-ahead run.

In the fifth, the A’s padded the lead. After Chase Hanselman reached on a single and Riley Palmquist walked, Horn ripped a single up the middle to score one. Steldt then knocked in another with a base hit to left to make it 4-1.

The final run came in the seventh when Palmquist singled, stole second, and came around to score on a Neese single to left.

Offensively, Sheboygan pounded out 11 hits and drew four walks. Horn, Steldt, Palmquist, Lasch, and Hanselman each had multi-hit efforts. The A’s were also sharp on defense, turning three double plays and playing error-free behind Rindfleisch.

Sheboygan’s magic number is two to clinch first place outright and a bye to the NEWBL championship. Any combination of A’s wins or Green Bay losses totaling two will secure the spot.

Should the A’s secure the number one seed, they would advance directly to the best-of-three Championship Series, scheduled for August 5–7, and would host games 1 and 3 (if necessary).

If the A’s were to fall out of first, they can finish no worse the second place. If that were to happen, the A’s would play in the Round Robin portion of the playoffs, beginning on the road at the number five seed Monday, July 28, then at home Tuesday, July 29 against the three seed, and home Wednesday, July 30 against the four seed. The round-robin winner would then advance to the championship series and host game two on August 6.

The A’s are on the road to Kewaskum Thursday for a rain makeup date with Kewaskum at 7:30 PM in NEWBL action. The 2025 season is presented by Meijer.
