vs. Milwaukee Tropics

Offense Comes Alive Late as A’s Shutout Tropics

Posted: July 26, 2024

The offense took a while to get going on Thursday night, but they did enough to secure a 3-0 shutout victory over the Milwaukee Tropics in a non-league matchup.

Bryce Lovisa, who only had 4.2 innings pitched this season coming into the game, pitched a gem, throwing six innings, surrendering two hits and striking out six in his first start. On in relief cam Ethan Scherg, who made his first appearance on the mound this season. Scherg threw the final three innings to get the three-inning save.

The A’s first run of the game didn’t come until the bottom of the sixth, when Gus Walker reached base on an error and reached second. In the next at-bat, he stole third, then scored on a wild pitch giving the A’s a 1-0 lead, all without having recorded a hit yet to that point.

Walker would get the A’s first hit of the game in the eighth that would then help lead the A’s charge where they scored twice to put the game away. The offense finished with three runs on four hits. In addition, they walked five times and reached base twice via hit batsman.

The A’s will play a non-league game tonight in Denmark, take Saturday off, then close out the regular season Sunday at home against Kewaskum.
