Posted: July 1, 2024

Runs were hard to come by on Monday, but it was the A’s who led in run column at the end of the game Monday night.

The Sheboygan A’s secured a 2-1 victory over the Appleton in Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League play, giving them their fifth straight win and moving them into third place in the NEWBL.

Sawyer Kowalkowski, making just his third appearance pitching of the season, and first start, recorded the A’s first 18 outs while giving up only four hits and one unearned run through six innings. Kowalkowski struck out five and walked four. Holden Reilly threw two-thirds of an inning and Michael Martinez then threw two and one-third innings of scoreless relief to secure the win.

Trailing 1-0 in the fifth with the bases loaded, Blane Bradford scored on a wild pitch to tie the game 1-1. The game remained tied at one until the top of the seventh inning when an error allowed Gus Walker to score the games go-ahead run.

The A’s are back home Tuesday against Kewaskum in another NEWBL matchup. Tuesday is Salute to Service where military and public service employees (police, fire, ems, etc.) will receive a free general admission ticket to the game.
