Posted: July 29, 2022

For the second consecutive season, the A’s have won the Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League Classic championship.

The A’s defeated Greater Green Bay 7-1, and Menasha defeated Appleton Thursday night. Both Sheboygan and Menasha finished 2-1 while Appleton and Green Bay finished 1-2. Sheboygan defeated Menasha Tuesday, giving them the tie-breaker.

The A’s will take Friday off before heading to Chicago on Saturday for a 5 PM non-league doubleheader with the Chicago Clout. The A’s will then play the Addison Braves on Sunday in a single nine-inning game to close out their 2022 Wisconsin State League regular season.

Blake Kunz pitched six complete Thursday, striking out eight and walking just one en route to the victory. Noah Imrie pitched the final inning to close things off.

Offensively, the A’s were once again led by a multi-hit effort from Gus Walker, who finished 2-for-4 with two runs batted in and a run scored. The A’s collected eight hits in the victory.

The A’s will be home Tuesday, August 2 when they host the Kenosha Kings in the first game of the Wisconsin State League’s step-ladder qualifiers for the Wisconsin Class A State Tournament. Game time will be 7:30 PM.
