Steldt Gets 400th RBI, Kunz Strikes Out 17 as A’s Roll Over Blue Ribbons
Posted: July 20, 2022
Harry Steldt drove in Ross Krist from second base in the bottom half of the first inning tying the game at 1-1, but more importantly, with the RBI, Steldt recorded his 400th in a Sheboygan A’s uniform as the A’s would go on to win 9-1 in a Wisconsin State League matchup with Greater Green Bay.
Steldt currently sits fourth all-time in the career RBI department, trailing only A’s Hall of Famers Gene Mand, Randy Wilke, and Lee Wetenkamp.
Not to be outdone, another Sheboygan A’s itched his name into the record books Tuesday night.
Starting pitcher Blake Kunz (South Dakota State) struck out a season-high 17 batters in eight innings of work. The 17 strikeouts place him tied for seventh all-time in a single game. The all-time record is 21 recorded by Mark Simon on July 22, 1965, against Kewaskum.
Jimmy Juergensen’s (Concordia-Nebraska) 8th inning home run tied him with Steldt for the team lead this season with six. Juergensen finished the night 3-for-4, while teammates Jacoby Endreas (UW-Stout) and Ross Krist finished with four and three hits respectively.
