A’s Announce Re-Signing of Eight Players for 2022

The snow and the wind have been blowin’ but baseball is in the air in Sheboygan.

The Sheboygan A’s have announced that eight players have signed player agreements and will be returning to the club for the 2022 season. The eight are:

Bennet Becker (IF-RHP) 5-11, 175. Sheboygan North grad now playing at Carroll University. 2022 will be his second full season after joining the club following the Legion season in 2020. Hit .236 last year in 33 games, and appeared in five games as a pitcher. Most memorable outing was his 4-for-4 game with two doubles, three runs scored and two driven in at Kenosha. Becker received the Managers’ Award last season.

Sam Hernandez (RHP) 6-0, 180. All-conference second baseman at Fond du Lac, the Malone resident was converted to a pitcher at UW-Platteville and posted a 2.45 earned run average in 11 innings for the A’s last summer before going down for the season with a knee injury.

Noah Imrie (RHP) 6-5, 225. The former Marian University pitcher cracked the starting rotation last season and went 4-2 with a save and had a 4.88 earned run average with 69 strikeouts in 59 innings. He didn’t get a decision in 2020 but worked 29 innings with a 2.83 ERA.

Jimmy Juergensen (1B) 6-4, 225. Starting his 4th season with the A’s, Juergensen hit .241 with the last year. His best game was a 4-for-4 show against Menasha that included a home run and five runs batted in. In his career with the A’s Juergensen is a .280 hitter with 21 doubles, 11 home runs, and 33 runs batted in. He was the 2019 Rookie of the Year. Formerly of D1 Grand Canyon University, he is now playing college baseball at Concordia-Nebraska.

Joey Pettit (IF, P) 5-10, 180. Pettit, who plays at UW-Whitewater, was elected Rookie of the Year last year after going 5-2 with a shutout, two saves and a 2.20 earned run average, and hit .274. He was also selected the State League’s Rookie Pitcher of the Year. His best pitching performance last year was a 9-inning 6-hitter against West Allis.

Dawson Selvoski (RHP) 6-0, 190. Playing at Ripon College, Selvoski, who lettered in football, basketball, and baseball at North High School, appeared in seven games in his first full season with the A’s.

Sage Stellmacher (C) 6-2, 198. A first-team all-conference and 2nd team All-District player from Markesan is back for his second season. He joined the club after his high school season and played in 14 games, quickly melding with the pitching staff. He is a freshman at Upper Iowa University.

Davis Wilson (RHP) 5-10, 210. A workhorse from Marian University who always wants the ball, Wilson got 10 starts last season and appeared in 14 games coming in with a 5-7 record and 3.53 ERA in 58 2/3 innings. Wilson is expected to be ready after off-season ankle surgery.

The club will launch its 58th season on May 21 when it hosts the qualifying round of the Play Ball Tournament. The first game will begin immediately after the awards presentation for the Sheboygan A’s 5K Home Run and Walk presented by CITGO. The full schedule is being firmed up and will be released shortly with ticket information.

The Sheboygan A's are members of the Wisconsin State League and Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League. The A's have helped develop more than 43 players that have reached professional baseball, including 2002 World Series Champion Jarrod Washburn (Anaheim Angels).
