Long Balls Not Enough as A’s Drop Three of Four to Joliet

Posted: June 6, 2021

The Sheboygan A’s offense was certainly up to the task this weekend against Joliet. Pitching was another story.

A’s hitters belted seven home runs over the four game weekend set, including three by Harry Steldt, but it wasn’t enough as the Joliet Dirtbags took three of the four matchups.

The Dirtbags swept the Saturday series 8-7 and 8-4. The A’s won via the 10-run rule in game one Sunday, before blowing a 5-1 lead after the first inning in game two Sunday en route to a 12-5 defeat.

After the weekend series, the A’s record now stands at 6-7 overall, 1-3 in the Wisconsin State League and 2-1 in the Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League.

Steldt (3), Jacob Neese (2), TD Walker and Ross Krist each hit home runs during the four game weekend, the most in a four-game weekend for the A’s in recent memory.

Up next for the A’s, the Greater Green Bay Blue Ribbons come to town Tuesday for a game that counts in both the WSL and NEWBL. It’s Plymouth Dirt Track Night with race cars from the racing circuit on display at the stadium pre-game.
