A’s Getting Set to Kick Off 2021 Season

Posted: May 19, 2021

Things are starting to get back to normal.

The A’s were able to pull off a season in 2020. But gone were the large crowds. Gone were the promotions. Gone were group outings. Gone were many of the favorites from the concessions stand. Gone was the 2020 5K Home Run and Walk to get the season started. All thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In 2021, everything is back.

The A’s are in full preparation mode for 2021’s CITGO Opening Day festivities coming up this Saturday, May 22.

6th Annual Sheboygan A’s 5K Run/Walk presented by CITGO

The day begins with the 6th Annual Sheboygan A’s 5K Home Run/Walk, presented by CITGO at 8 AM. Registration is still available online until 11:59 PM Thursday night, but people willing to participate can still register during packet pickup at Wildwood Park from 4-7 PM Friday, or prior to the race Saturday morning.

Once the 5K wraps, it will be game-time with not one, not two, but three games on tap as the A’s host the Sheboygan pool of the Play Ball Tournament, presented by Weichert Realtors of CornerStone and Fox Communities Credit Union.

The A’s will face two familiar teams – the Kewaskum A’s and the West Allis Nationals. The “A’s vs. A’s” matchup will be the first game of the day at 11 AM. Following the conclusion of that game, Kewaskum will then face West Allis while the A’s of Sheboygan take a breather. The final game of the day will then see Sheboygan take on West Allis, at approximately 3:30 PM.

The first 500 fans through the gate Saturday will receive a 2021 Sheboygan A’s magnet schedule, courtesy of CITGO. The A’s will also have a special going in the team store, with fans getting a free pint glass with a $50 purchase.

Should the A’s win their pool, they would advance to the tournament semi-finals on Sunday, being hosted in Manitowoc.

Following the tournament, the team will have a few days off before hosting Kewaskum once again in their Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League opener Thursday, May 27.

Thursday’s game will be the first Strike Out Hunger game of the season. The A’s have teamed up with the Sheboygan County Food Bank to give fans a free general admission ticket into the game if they bring two cans of soup or two non-perishable food items to the game. Strike Out Hunger games will occur during every Thursday home game all season long. Also on Thursday, players from the 2020 team will receive their team awards and be recognized on the field prior to the game. The concessions stand will be running a grilled cheese sandwich special, and fans will receive a free game day program with a $50 purchase inside the team store.

Season tickets are on sale now for the 2021 season. Group outings are back after a one-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Contact the A’s to setup your group outing today!
