Outfielders Return to A's Lineup

Outfielders Highlight Latest Round of Roster Signees

Posted: May 7, 2021

The 2021 Sheboygan A’s outfield will easily be a position of strength this summer, and Manager Tim Moyer will have some hard decisions to make regarding playing time.

Returning to patrol the outfield grass at Wildwood Park are outfielders Ross Krist (UW-Platteville), Josh Moses (UW-Platteville alum), TD Walker (Jacksonville University), Mark Wanner (Washburn University), Cole Miklavcic (Marian University alum) along with newcomers JT Reed (Valley City State), Cole Erickson (Lawrence University alum) and Ryan Traas.

Not much needs to be said regarding Krist’s 2020 season. The reigning team MVP is back for his fourth season after hitting a whopping .421 in 37 contests, taking home the teams’ leading hitter award as well. He holds a career .328 batting average and will see himself most likely slotted back into the leadoff spot.

Another former A’s MVP, Moses is back for his third season in an A’s uniform. The 2017 MVP is coming off a .327 campaign where he led the team in home runs with 9.

Speaking of MPV’s, Walker, the defensive MVP from 2020, will take his spot once again in center field. Walker enters his fifth season with the club, holding a career .237 batting average and a .337 on-base percentage.

Wanner, who hails from Rochelle, IL, is back for his fifth season as well. He is coming off of consecutive + .300 seasons at the plate. He has over 500 career plate appearances with the A’s, collecting 119 hits, 41 walks and 69 RBI.

Yet another A’s outfield veteran, Miklavcic has been a familiar face in the outfield since he first joined the team in 2014. The speedy center fielder will enter his seventh season this summer. He has a career average of .282 and 27 stole bases.

Joining the A’s returning cast will be newcomers Reed, Erickson and Traas.

Although Reed is new to the team, he’s not new to the Wisconsin State League, as he spent the past two seasons with the West Allis Nationals.

Nationals Manager Steve Elliot said, “JT is a very talented baseball player. He’s incredibly reliable, missing only one game in his two years here.”

Erickson was a dual-sport athlete at Lawrence University, playing both baseball and football. Traas suited up in four games for the A’s at the end of the 2020 season after joining the team from the legion program.
