Run-rule victory closes out the A’s season

Posted: August 22, 2020

On Friday night the Sheboygan A’s closed out their 2020 season similar to the way they kicked it off in June – a win over the Greater Green Bay Blue Ribbons.

This time though, there was more on the line, as Sheboygan was looking to capture a second place spot in the WSL standings, and they did just that. The A’s secured a 12-2 victory over Green Bay in eight innings.

The Blue Ribbons put up the first run of the game in the third inning on Yuta Kudoh’s RBI double, but Sheboygan answered back immediately, scoring five runs of their own.

A leadoff double from Colin Butkiewicz got things rolling, followed up with singles from Doug Coe, Cole Miklavcic, Adam Hill and Sam Nemetz, all of which helped give the A’s a 5-1 lead.

Sheboygan’s offense wasn’t done, because they tallied four more runs in the fourth inning. Josh Moses and Harry Steldt stood on base when Doug Coe swung at the second pitch he saw, and it wasn’t questionable whether or not it was out of the park. Coe’s 3-run homer put Sheboygan up 8-1. In total, Sheboygan’s aggressive offense racked up 16 hits over Green Bay’s six hits.

Brad Rindfleisch earned the win for the A’s throwing seven innings, while Jared Reklaitis threw the final inning in relief. Rindfleisch struck out 11 and surrendered one run on four hits.
