Three-Run Ninth Propels A’s to 10-7 Victory Over West Allis

The Sheboygan A’s bounced back from an embarrassing loss in Appleton Wednesday night and when a 6-run second inning didn’t do the job, they scored three runs in the 9th inning and beat the West Allis Nationals 10-7.
The A’s go to 14-6 in the Wisconsin State League and to at least a temporary lead in the race to finish second behind perennial champion Lombard. Currently the A’s are 14-6, West Allis is 14-8 and Burlington is 13-6.
The A’s host Burlington in a key doubleheader Saturday beginning at 3 pm at Wildwood Park.
West Allis scored first, but the A’s came back with a 6-run second inning, sparked by Josh Moses’ grand slam home run. But West Allis didn’t go away and by the ninth inning the score was tied at seven.
Moses led off the ninth inning with a bullet triple and after a couple walks came Jimmy Juergensen’s sacrifice fly and when TD Walker followed with a double the A’s had a 10-7 lead.
Tyler Piccioli threw well in the eighth and ninth (five strikeouts) to get the win, but the story of the night was the gutty performance of Brad Rindfleisch whose 140-pitch effort against a tough West Allis line-up kept the A’s in the game. Rindfleish finished with 14 strikeouts.
