A’s Sweep Braves Saturday at Wildwood

A low scoring first of a two-game series against the Addison Braves on Saturday evening wasn’t anything to be upset about when Sheboygan was able to shut out the Braves 1-0.

Eric Schmitz pitched all seven innings and allowed five hits and zero runs, while striking out seven.

Schmitz credited his success to his fastball stating, “My fastball was definitely effective today, I was able to throw that for a lot of strikes and get a lot of outs with it.”

Not only did Sheboygan’s pitching prove to be effective, the Braves’ Zack Jones pitching was also impressive. Over the six innings Jones pitched, he allowed six hits, only one run and struck out 13 Sheboygan batters. The only run that Jones let up was a RBI single hit by Jimmy Juergensen.

Game two came with a bit more offensive excitement in the nine runs the A’s scored. A final score of 9-2 meant that the A’s were able to sweep the Addison Braves on Saturday night.

A six-run fifth inning looked promising in order to lock up an important second win against the Braves who were ranked just above Sheboygan in the Wisconsin State League coming into Saturday.

Tyler Brandenberg, Mark Wanner, and Jacob Neese, all had big at-bats and sent runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Jared Reklaitis earned the win for the A’s, lasting five innings, allowing five hits and one run while striking out eight. Noah Imrie threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.

The A’s and Braves will do it again Sunday as the 2020 season presented by Meijer continues. Sunday’s doubleheader begins at 1 PM.
