A’s Delay Start to the Season

Posted: May 20, 2020

After several discussions between club leaders, city officials and members of the teams making up the Wisconsin State League and Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League, the Sheboygan A’s announced its decision to cancel Opening Weekend festivities at Wildwood Baseball Park scheduled for May 27-31, and is delaying the start to its 2020 season.

In a statement released by club President Scott Stangel, “Our organization’s utmost concern is the safety and well-being of our players, fans, club members, and all associated with A’s baseball. Thus, we have decided to cancel Opening Weekend games and also to postpone the A’s 5K Home Run and Walk. Understanding we all need to do our part in the prevention of the COVID-19 spread, it is important for us to follow the Sheboygan County Safe Restart program introduced last week.”

Stangel went on to say, “The County’s Safe Restart program includes a phased-in approach to the restart of our organization’ operations. With this in mind, our 2020 baseball season will be delayed until late June or early July, with all games scheduled either postponed or cancelled. The A’s 5K Home Run and Walk will be rescheduled for a date in the October.”

The A’s will continue to work with the City of Sheboygan, and the member club’s of the WSL and NEWBL.
