A’s Lose Lead Late in Season Opening Loss

Posted: May 26, 2019

Everything was going well for the Sheboygan A’s on Opening Day Saturday until the 9th inning.

Kewaskum scored six runs in the ninth to spoil the A’s debut by a 12-8 score.

Wet grounds in Burlington forced cancelation of Sunday’s game.

The A’s open Wisconsin State League play Thursday at West Allis, then travel to Kewaskum Saturday for a doubleheader and to Menasha Monday before returning home Wednesday, June 5, to play Appleton.

The A’s led 8-6 going into the ninth. But Josh Gates walked the bases full with one out then Derek Loomans came on and had an uncharacteristic outing, He hit the first Kewaskum hitter and then gave up three straight hits.
Joseph (JJ) Zwyiciel, a junior to be at Concordia Univeristy had a big day in his A’s debut, driving in three runs with a double and two singles. Ryan Fields had a double.
