Nehring’s No-Hitter Leads A’s to 4-0 Win

Sheboygan, WI – Brady Nehring was brilliant on the mound Tuesday night, as he threw a no-hitter to lead the A’s to a 4-0 victory over the Appleton Legends.

In front of a large crowd on Midwest Communications Night that mostly stuck around to the end, Nehring was sharp all night. He went the distance, pitching nine innings of no-hit baseball, and only allowing one walk. He added in six strikeouts.

Of the 106 pitches it took Nehring to get his no-no, 75 of them were for strikes, averging less then 12 pitches thrown per inning. He only faced two batters over the minimum.

No-hitters don’t happen without a little help from the defense as well. The A’s defense made diving stops, running throws and good scoops to keep the no-hitter alive.

The A’s gave Nehring some support early, taking a 2-0 lead in the first. Cole Miklavcic singled to lead things off, then scored on a double by Jake Arens. Arens would later score in the inning.

The A’s would add one each in the third on a single by Mark Wanner and and in the fourth on a single by Arens.

Nehring said after the game, "This is the greatest feeling I’ve ever experienced on a baseball field and there are no words to describe it. Also, I have to give a shout-out to the boys. Couldn’t have done it without the incredible defense behind me!"

The A’s return home tonight to take on the Branch Blaze in a non-league contest at approximatly 8:30 PM. The game follows a matchup between the Plymouth Flames and Cleveland Wildcats at 6:30 PM. Tonight is College Night, where college students with a college ID can get half priced tickets into the game.
