A’s Get Road Victory in Manitowoc

Posted: July 13, 2016

Harry Steldt, who pitched nine innings in 2011 and another inning in 2014, drew the short straw and got to start at Manitowoc Tuesday night.

He not only started, he just about finished. Steldt went 8 2/3 innings against the Bandits and posted a 7-3 victory.

He gave up five hits. One of them along with a couple errors loaded the bases in the ninth inning and prompted Skipper Derek Loomens to get Tyler Agard from the bullpen. Agard successfully got the last out for save.

Nate Heili’s second inning home run started scoring for the A’s. They added three more in the third and continued to build on the lead. Steldt, truly the hero of the night, collected three hits at the plate. Brad Young added two.

Now 21-12, the A’s travel to West Allis tonight. On Thursday, the team will play a weeknight doubleheader in De Pere against the Dodgers, then the club opens up pool play in the Wisconsin Amateur Baseball Classic tournament Friday night at home. They will take on the Plymouth Flames at 6:45 PM.
