Posted: July 11, 2016

The Sheboygan A’s couldn’t get much offense going against former A Jason Bunton, and the club fell 4-1 to end the Wisconsin State League Challenge at 2-2.

Despite his seven strikeouts in six innings, Eric Schmitz took the loss on the hill. He walked one and allowed four runs.

The A’s scored their only run of the game on an RBI double by Tyler Agard in the fifth inning.

The A’s now hit the road for four straight road games, beginning tonight against perennial NEWBL power Menasha. First pitch is at 7:15 PM.

Following tonight’s game, the club will be in Manitowoc on Tuesday, at West Allis on Wednesday, in De Pere on Thursday. The A’s will then return home on Friday to open up pool play in the Wisconsin Amateur Baseball Classic.

The WABC is a 24-team tournament hosted by West Bend. Teams are split into six pools of four teams. Each team will play the others in their pool once, with the pool winners advancing to Sunday. The top four teams will play in the semi-finals, with the remaining two pool winners playing in the 5th/6th place game.

The A’s will take on the Plymouth Flames Friday at 6:45 PM at Wildwood. On Saturday, the A’s will play the 5 PM and 7:30 PM games at Wildwood against the Clyman Canners and Milwaukee Beavers respectively.

Friday night’s game is Strike Out Cancer night, with groups from Pink Heels and Project Angel Hugs as well as other local cancer centers being in attendance. Pink Heels will have their famous pink fire truck at the park. There will be several raffles for prizes, and half of the 50/50 raffle will go to the cancer groups in attendance.

The A's have helped develop more than 43 players that have reached professional baseball, including 2002 World Series Champion Jarrod Washburn (Anaheim Angels).
