The Sheboygan A’s got a 9-7 win in front of a packed house Saturday but dropped the nightcap 5-0 to the league-leading Lombard Orioles.

In game one, the A’s and the Addison Braves passed the lead back and forth five times, but in the end it was Sheboygan who pulled out a 9-7 win in seven innings.

The A’s finally managed to grab the lead after a strong fifth inning, scoring on an RBI double by Cole Heili off Mike Marren, plating Wyatt Olson.

The A’s held off a late rally, as the Braves were unable to overcome a five-run fifth inning deficit.

Addison scored on an RBI single by Luke Lucchetti in the fifth inning, an RBI triple by Tommy Nawa in the sixth inning, and a two-run error in the seventh inning. Despite their efforts, the Addison Braves couldn’t finish the comeback.

Nate Heili went a perfect 3-3 at the plate for Sheboygan. He doubled in the second inning and singled in the third and sixth innings.

In the nightcap, Zach Parker went 2-2 as the Lombard Orioles took home a 5-0 victory.

Tom Bushnell handled the A’s’ lineup with ease, racking up eight strikeouts. The Lombard Orioles’ pitcher gave up just three hits over four shutout innings.

Dylan Detert, who came on in relief of Cole Heili was effective even in defeat, mowing down eight of the Orioles batters and allowing zero runs.

Heili lasted two innings on the rubber for Sheboygan A’s before the call to the bullpen. Heili surrendered five hits and five runs. Several mental errors by the defense didn’t help the cause.

The Orioles took a 1-0 lead after one, then added four more runs in the top of the second to finish the scoring.
