A’s Blank Giants in Opener of WSL Challenge

Derek Loomans kept the Oshkosh Giants off the board during his seven innings of work and Sheboygan A’s beat the Oshkosh Giants, 7-0 Friday night in the opener of the Wisconsin State League Challenge.

Loomans allowed three hits, one walk and struck out three.

The A’s beat the Oshkosh Giants thanks to 11 hits, including five extra-base hits. The A’s scored three runs in the third on an RBI single by TD Walker, an RBI double by Wyatt Olson, and an RBI single by Taylor Grimm.

Nate Heili racked up two RBIs on one hit for Sheboygan. He homered in the fifth inning.

Luke Gajewski was charged with the loss. He allowed seven runs in seven innings, walked one and struck out three.

The A’s are home against tonight, taking on the Addison Braves and Lombard Orioles in the nightcaps of Saturdays Challenge games.

The Sheboygan A's are members of the Wisconsin State League and Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League. The A's have helped develop more than 43 players that have reached professional baseball, including 2002 World Series Champion Jarrod Washburn (Anaheim Angels).
