Posted: July 3, 2016

Following Saturday’s doubleheader split at Kenosha, the Sheboygan A’s are enjoying a rare two days off before hosting the Green Bay Storm Tuesday night in a mid-season battle for first place. Both teams are 8-2 in the Northeastern Wisconsin League.

As a follow-up to Independence Day, Tuesday will be Military Appreciation Night. All veterans who show a military ID at the gate and their spouse will get free general admission tickets and a voucher for a free beverage. Gametime is 7:30 at Wildwood Baseball Park.

On Saturday the A’s beat Kenosha by a 13-9 score and then lost 4-1.

The A’s hit Kenosha with a 4-spot in the first inning, but Kenosha came back to tie at 8-8 after five innings. The A’s salted the game away with a 5-run sixth inning.

Mitch Sutton led hitting with a walk, a single, double and triple, driving in three runs. Brad Young drove in three runs with three hits, Nate Heili was 2-for-2 with three walks and Trevor Cho and Tyler Agard both had two hits. Ben Folger got the win in relief of starter Weston Nelson.

The A’s managed only five hits off 6-foot-6 lefthander David Keaton in the second game. Mitch Gardner took the loss in his first start with the A’s this season.

The A’s are 18-7 going into their holiday break.
