Detert, Cho, Winfield Lead A’s To 6-1 Victory Over De Pere; Two Wins Away From 1,500

Posted: June 14, 2016

DE PERE – Dylan Detert hit two home runs, Trevor Cho had four
hits and Brandon Winfield struck out 12 in 8 1/3 innings to lead the Sheboygan
A’s to a 6-1 victory over the De Pere Dodgers Monday night.

The win
puts the A’s at 8-1 for the season and 4-1 in the Wisconsin State League.

The A’s
will play two games against the Manitowoc Bandits tonight at Wildwood Park. At 7 p.m. they
will finish the game suspended by rain, lightning and heavy winds in Manitowoc
Friday night. It will be resumed in the third inning with the A’s leading 10-0.
That game will be followed by a 7-inning game.

The
ball club is now only two wins away from notching its 1,500th victory. A
doubleheader victory tonight will secure the milestone. The club is
having the team sign two baseballs, one
that will be raffled off at a future date and one will be auctioned off.

Winfield
dominated the DePere line-up, giving up just three hits.

Detert’s
2-run home run put the A’s on top in the third inning. Harry Steldt’s
run-scoring single made it 3-0 in the fourth. Detert’s second home run and Taylor
Grimm’s sacrifice fly added two in the fifth, and Cho’s triple followed by Wyatt Olson’s base hit finished off the scoring.

Winfield
was lifted in the ninth after two hits and a hit batsman loaded the bases.  Ben Folger came in and enticed a double play to end the game.
