SHEBOYGAN – With WSL teams coming to Wildwood Baseball Park for the Wisconsin State League Challenge this weekend, the Sheboygan A’s protected their home field and did not surrender a loss. Sheboygan knocked off the Oshkosh Giants 6-2 Friday night and Saturday night they took down perennial powerhouse Lombard by a score of 6-5. On Sunday, the A’s completed the Wisconsin State League Challenge sweep, by besting Addison 4-3 in the afternoon and Kenosha in the nightcap by a score of 7-1.

In game one on Sunday, timely hitting and quality pitching gave the A’s a 4-2 victory over Addison.

The A’s got on the board early as Ben Gordon had a big two-out RBI single, scoring Wyatt Olson and Nate Heili.

After Addison tied the game at two, the A’s took back their lead in the 4th inning when Cole Miklavcic ripped an RBI single scoring Taylor Grimm and advancing Adam Ryan to third base. Ryan later scored on a balk by the Braves pitcher bringing the score to 4-2.

The Braves managed to get one back in the top of the 7th but their rally fizzled out and the A’s won by the score of 4-3.

Andrew Wood picked up the win pitching the final three innings in relief for Max Kramsky who started the game.

Game two saw a stellar pitching performance by Weston Nelson as he went the distance allowing one run on six hits, picking up the win.

RBI groundouts by Blake Fleischman and Wyatt Olson in the 1st inning gave the A’s a 2-0 lead, which proved to be enough. The A’s did tack on a few insurance runs later in the game en route to the 7-1 victory.

With Sunday’s wins, the A’s improve to 22-12 overall and 15-7 in the Wisconsin State League.

The A’s will be back in action Tuesday when they hit the road to face the Oshkosh Giants in a game critical to the A’s pennant chase in the tightly bunched Northeastern Wisconsin League standings as well as the State League race for playoff seeds. The first pitch scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at E.J. Schmeider Field in Oshkosh.
