A’s Hang On, Beat Oshkosh

Posted: June 24, 2015

Oshkosh – The Sheboygan A’s squandered leads of 5-0 and 8-2, but held on for an 8-6 victory over the Giants, who rallied in the seventh, eighth and ninth innings before succumbing to the slants of Andrew Wood, who got the game’s final two outs with the tying runs in scoring position.

To speak in understatement, it was a nail-biter.

Taylor Schwarz started and left after the sixth with an 8-2 lead.

Oshkosh got its first two hitters to second and third before Rob Hagedorn got out of the seventh inning.

Ditto the eighth, except this time Oshkosh got two runs in and had the bases loaded before Hegedorn got out of it.

Wood came on in the ninth to end it with a strikeout and groundout after Oshkosh got one in and had the tying and lead runners on base.

Dylan Detert had three hits and Dan Barwick and Tyler Grimm both two for the A‘s.

The A’s host Kenosha tonight in the big Sheboygan Falls Night game. It is also Wing Wednesday. Eric Schmitz is scheduled to pitch.

Tuesday’s win puts the A’s at 14-6 overall, 8-6 in the Wisconsin State League and 7-0 in the Northeastern Wisconsin League.
